VFT Day 4

08 December 2011.

PAQUITO.

Mai introduced this game to us. The rule of this game is to portray the requested emotion but we must say no word except “Paquito.”

The first emotion Mai asked of us was grief followed by rejoicing (as if we won the lottery). I just played along for the sake of the group. I was actually relieved that Camille and Nic were not around when we started the game.

The last emotion asked of us was seduction. And I was like, “What?!” I was thankful that only Mai and my batchmates were inside the room. But, right after the third person stood up to do her seducing Paquito, Camille came in. Nic entered the room after a minute or two.

I wanted to cry. Being choleric, I was quite competitive. I had ideas running in my head, but I was concern of the Nazirite vow. I was quite afraid that I might do something that would offend Someone, most especially when Mai told us to face Camille and Nic. I was on panic.

To avoid wasting the class’ time, I did what was asked of me. BUT I made sure that my eyes were on Camille, who was writing on something. Nic was right next to her.

I was still on panic but did what I thought was the most decent of all I could think of. Glad to have my glasses back, which I used for props.

SMALL TALK.

One of our activities on this day was having a small-talk conversation with either Mai or Nic. We were asked to pic a paper with a number on it, which corresponded to the facilitator we will be talking to. I got 2, and I was happy because I’ve always been choosing 2 as my slot since day 1.

My choice of number was related to sports. Derek Jeter, captain of the New York Yankees, wears #2. Rob Gier, my top favourite national Football player, also wears #2.

If I remember it right, all of us in TRIP got number 2. And we were to have the small-talk with Nic.

When I got my turn, I was hoping that I could have a small talk that I am familiar with though I wasn’t asking for sports as topic. I started the talk asking Nic what he was up to lately. After giving his answer, he asked me with the same question. Paaak!

I’ve been quite occupied with things related to Football, so that’s what I told him. Most of which were preparations for the Azkals and Kaholeros’ Christmas Party on Tuesday. I just said that it’s about a particular Football team. When I was asked how I got into such event, I said I am friends with the manager and that he asked me and my colleagues to plan the event. Then I was asked how I became friends with the Manager. I said, “It was early this year when I met the manager during one of their practices.

I felt that the small-talk seemed to be mostly about me, which I didn’t want. I can’t remember how I changed the topic but I was able to direct the conversation to business. I was also thankful that I finished the small-talk just within the given time- 2 minutes.

When it was time for Camille to give her comment, I was relieved. She told me that there was no hint of British (accent) during the small talk, which she was quite watching out for. I was definitely happy. I think Nic said something about it, but I can’t remember what. Paaak. I’ve been trying to naturally respond to compliments and such, because I am not really good in doing so. I just usually smile.
