Last Saturday was the first match of the Philippine National Football Team, though it was not against another nation. Though it was like that, it was not just any game. It was a charity match for the benefit of Sendong victims. For that, we are definitely thankful to Internacional de Madrid for helping us. Muchas gracias, seƱores!
Philippines lost having the lone goal from James YH’s header, 1-3. But we’re sticking to the goal of the match: help Sendong victims.
I watched the game for the following reasons:
1. It’s a national game. Though I’m not sure if I made a vow that I will not miss a match, it seems to be the case. Go, Pilipinas!
2. It’s a charity match. We’re there to help.
3. As part of the Kaholeros’ First XI, it goes without saying that I should be there. Admin purpose.
Speaking of admin purpose, I wasn’t able to fully help my colleagues. I fell asleep longer than necessary, thankfully I was able to wake up to make it before the kick off.
Because I woke up late, I missed our national anthem and the ceremonial unfolding of the giant Philippine flag. Also, though because of work (which we’re not supposed to have on Saturda), I missed the ceremonial walking in the ramp of our athletes. I also missed the aftermath: FXI gathering, post-match dinner, what else..
