UFL’s Second Division was unstoppable despite the perpetual rain at the BGC Turf last Sunday afternoon.
Dolphins United FC shut down Agila FC, 2-0, for the day’s first match at 2PM. Jerome Cuyos scored a brace (59’ and 72’).
Meanwhile, Union Internacional Manila drowned Sunken Garden United in the second match. The referee may have called two offside goals for Union Internacional Manila, but their 4-1 victory was enough to secure the match’s three points and answer Sunken Garden United’s complaints. The latter’s fans and players have been questioning the referees’ calls.
Rodrigue Nembot’s goal (27’) of Union struck the first blood, but it was equalized by RomnickJover (35’) in the first half.
A challenge inside the penalty earned Christian Gaviola, Sunken Garden United’s goalkeeper, a yellow card while a penalty kick was awarded to Union Internacional Manila, which Bib Pascual converted into the club’s second goal (65’). Six minutes later, Joseph Anthony Cerdena drilled a goal just below the crossbar to beat Gaviola. Union’s last goal came from Christian Galicia (88’).
The rain hasn’t stopped at the BGC Turf for the third match and so were the goals, summing up to eight goals as early as the first half. But it was Manila All-Japan FC that got the win, 9-6, against Forza FC.
Forza may have started the rain of goals courtesy of Jacobs Oliver as early as the 7th minute followed by Harry Shoum two minutes later, but Manila All-Japan drowned the turf with five goals before half time. Shiinichi Tanaka scored a brace within eight minutes time (12’ and 20’) while back to back goals by two Daisuke, Sagiya (22’) and Hattori (23’), put Manila All-Japan on lead, 4-2.
Johann Casal of Forza FC had his taste of gloomy Sunday when he received a yellow card at the 23rd minute followed by an own goal five minutes later, placing his team in 3-goal deficit. Forza was able to bring in another goal from Hussain Al Mohjili (33’), however Manila All-Japan was still leading, 5-3, as the match reached half time.
Forza brought in the first goal seven minutes into the second half from an unmanned left side of the box to a waiting William Pajibo in front of the goal. Manila All-Japan answered with goals from Daisuke Hattori (67’) followed by Hirohito Tanaka (71’) making it a 7-4 lead.
The Alabang-based club lessened their opponents’ lead to 7-6 when Ruben Bioumla hit the back of the net (76’) and Pajibo completed a brace (83’). But, Daisuke Hattori secured his hat trick at the 86th minute, lifting Manila All-Japan to an 8-6 lead. Hirohito Tanaka almost scored a brace had he not missed the back of the net with his bicycle attempt. Shinichi Tanaka also completed a hat trick (90+2’) for Manila All-Japan FC making it a 9-6 victory against Forza FC.
