A Reliever

Posted: 17 June 2010

First entry for first duty.

I made this blog so I can have a place where I can post my thoughts about my job, my career in general.

My first formal job is being an On-Call Duty Nurse/CCR. Being an on-call nurse is like being a Reliever. Before you think of Baseball, let me define this Nurse Reliever first.

A Nurse Reliever is someone who relieves, like yeah?, bridging the gap or shift between the night duty nurse (2PM-10PM) and morning duty nurse (6AM-2PM). Well, that was my case. I was told that a Reliever is someone who would take the place of a regular nurse who happens to be on emergency off.

I had my first duty on June 11/12 in Accenture Cybergate 3, but it was without formality yet. There was no contract signing yet because it was an emergency.

It was actually an urgent emergency because I was supposed to watch the first game of the FIFA World Cup: South Africa vs. Mexico. See? It was an urgent emergency duty. Nevertheless, I felt good. I believe I did fine. And I was so happy when I saw the dawn breaking, especially when I got out the building to meet the sun. It was Philippine Independence Day! And to make it more fun, I had a free MRT ride. How cool is that?

When I got home, I believe I watched an MLB game on ESPN. Yes, I did! I remember speeding my way home to catch the Astros vs. Yankees game. Andy Pettitte was pitching and he had his 200th career win.

After the game, I attended our D-Class, which was scheduled in the morning, with Ptr. Faye.
